Time for a Tour de Cure update!!!
Unfortunately its been pretty cold lately, and I haven't been on my bike anywhere near as much as I would like or need to be. The State of Origin Tour for 2014 has been announced and there is now 8 weeks to go until we depart on what will be a very demanding, but very beautiful tour.
About a month ago now I participated in the Rapha Gentlemen's Race. A "race" that took us through some of the prettiest riding areas around. 160kms of very lumpy terrain and included some long sections of dirt/gravel road. 2686m of elevation for the morning. Ouch!
Starting and finishing in Chillingham, the route took us full circle around Mt Warning and out towards Twead Heads. The race was made up of teams for six riders each. You had to work together to get all team members across the finish line. Besides the cramping in my legs, it was a really fun day on the bike. Its not very often you go out for a road ride and tackle some dirt roads in the rain...
Thanks to Gav for organising a team for this event. I was a bit underdone in my preperation, but the team really helped me to push through and get me to the end with minimal cramping failure. I look forward to next year!
The State of Origin Tour for 2014 is going to be an awesome trip! Not only is Deon returning for some more pain and tackling the whole tour this time round, but My Brother Zac has also taken up the challenge. Dad and Jacinta (my sister) have joined the support crew ad cant wait to have them there with us.
As you can see from the profile, we are in for some pretty tough days of riding. I had better get out on the bike and start racking up some kilometers!
It also means that its time for some more fund raising!!!
We have been out at some of the local markets recently. I have to thank Mt Gravatt and Chandler Markets for having us. They have been very successful and we look forward to coming back again soon.
Stay tuned for more State of Origin Tour information and updates to come shortly!
