My weekend’s training went quite well. Saturday led me to the north side of town to Nundah to visit Danny at his Power Station Coffee Shop. It was nice to catch up with Danny over a coffee and some fantastic homemade banana bread.

Once I was fueled up, it was back on the bike for another 60ish kms to get me home.

107kms all up for the morning and I felt pretty good.

It was a good test for my new bike setup. I had a few things changed on my bike at the end of last week to try and get a better riding position and maybe produce a bit more power and efficiency, with less fatigue over a long distance. Simon from Bicycle Riders in Morningside looked after me with my new setup. Great, fun guy to deal with and he knows his stuff.

I recommend stopping in to have a chat with Simon if you are thinking of having a professional bike fit done.

Sunday morning I met Jodi and her cycling gang for a ride through Mt Cotton, Carbrook, over the 7 sister hills and onto the three points. (Victoria, Cleveland and Wellington) before making our way back to Bulimba. 126kms all up, but it felt like a lot further than that. We hit some major head winds as we rode towards the water. At one point we got sand blasted from the beach beside us. It was some of the strongest wind I have ridden in and definitely made the ride a fare bit more challenging. By sheer luck, we met the Kangaroo Point Club at a water stop. They were on the February club ride, doing a very similar route to us. It looked like they had a really good turnout for the ride.

I received a special package in the mail last week. It was my Rapha 500 badge!

This badge was given to people who took on and completed the challenge of riding 500 or more kms between Christmas eve and New Years eve.

It was a great challenge and I look forward to participating again for 2014.

Thanks for your support!
