Week 1 of training is done and only 15 weeks to go. Last week saw me ride 249kms with 3191m of climbing. Its only going to get tougher from here in. My mind says "lets get into it!", but my legs say, "please go easy!" Hopefully there will be a lot of photos from peaks of mountains for you to view on this site. That will mean that I at least made it to the top. :)
Last week I decided to familiarise myself with Mt Gravatt. Its not a very long climb, but its enough to make you wonder why you are climbing it... I know that if I keep it up regularly, it will become easier. The weather was also interesting through the week. This was one of my mornings 1km down the road from my house as I was on my way to work.
Last weekend was also the Kangaroo Point Cycling Club’s annual Christmas break up ride. We met at Lota for a 50km ride that had a great turn-out from club members. The weather was perfect for a ride, followed by a BBQ breakfast in the park. I also got to meet and chat with some of our newer club members. Congratulations to all our award winners for this year and I look forward to a fantastic 2014 with the club!
I also got back on the dirt! Felt good to be riding the trails again. Damo, Deon and Zac came for a 22km Sunday morning roll with me. I got to test out my new GoPro that Stephanie gave to me for my birthday. (It still needs to be positioned right) Ill upload some video when I get a good angle.
On Thursday this week, we have our annual “Commuting World Championships” race up Mt Coot-tha. This is a “social race” amongst friends. Normally 4-5 people turn up for the event but this year we have around 20 people who have submitted their times for start position. It will be an interesting “race” this year and I look forward to a fun morning on the bike. Update and results to come.
