Thanks Hervey Bay. Straight from work on Thursday afternoon, I drove to Hervey Bay for Stephanie’s family Christmas weekend. A long weekend by the beach was going to be fantastic!
On Friday evening, Stephanie, Irene and myself went along to the local Urangan Twilight Markets. This is a small market beside the Urangan marina with only a handful of stalls.
There weren’t a lot of people that passed through, but we had a really good response and support from the locals who were there.
Thanks to Luke, from the hair dresser behind our stall. He was our first customer for the evening and was so wrapped with his belt purchase that he told other customers and his friends to check us out.
Fraser Coast BUGs
I finally became a member of the Fraser Coast BUGs. (Bicycle Users Group) This a great group of people and I really enjoy riding with them and catching up over a coffee when I visit!
I had my single speed bike with me cause I was riding at the Friday night markets and I was looking forward to giving my new wheels a good run on the Saturday ride. This may not have been the best bike choice for the BUGs morning ride… They decided to do the most hilly ride I have been on in Hervey Bay… It was a great morning ride, with some light drizzle from the sky to keep us cool. 50kms all up. As normal, after coffee, I met with Stephanie at a great café by the beach, Enzo’s. All of the family turned up for breakfast and as normal the view from our seats was beautiful.
Hill training begins!
The time has come to start doing some serious hill preparation for the Signature Tour in March 2014.
I knocked off work yesterday, got on my bike for my commute home and found myself heading for the famous Mt Coot-tha… “Ouch, this is going to hurt!”
I haven’t tackled a decent climb a fair while now, so I knew I was in for bit of fun. The sun and the wind were out in force as I made my way towards the base of the mountain.
Clicking down the gears as I begin to climb, the memories and reasons of why I hate hill training was coming back to me pretty quickly…
The climb was tough, but I surprisingly felt pretty good most of the way up. With a time of 12mins & 4secs, I was happy with my effort. One minute off my PB, means I have plenty of room for improvement! Strava Link - Coot-tha
Plenty of more hills to come in the next 3-4 months!
