Day one is complete! 100kms with 1100m of climbing. We set off from Adelaide after filling up on breakfast from Canadian Kitchen (Our caterers for the tour) and an awesome coffee from a local Brissie barrister. Kerry was at the start line to see me off as we left for Victor Harbour.
We climbed the famous Willunga climb from the Tour Down Under. KOM points were given for the fastest male and female rider time up this climb. Kerry also met me at the finish line of the KOM climb for some morning tea. We had about 40kms to go and we were making really time. The group sat on about 50-55kms/hr which helped get us even more ahead of schedule. So we made a stop at a local cheese factory to kill some time. The view was awesome and the cheese was delicious!
20kms to go on nice flat roads and we had arrived in Victor Harbour. Families with kids lined the finish chute to give us high-5's as we crossed the line. Lunch was served by our Canadian chef and it was delicious. I'm pretty sure ill come back heavier than when I left...
Got the CUBE hat on for Steve for about 3hrs whilst talking to locals and having lunch!
Plenty of chores to do including washing the team cars.
Mine was the red hybrid! Couldn't work out how to start it... But it was clean when I was done!
Community dinner was great! Guest speaker was amazing and has given me a lot to think about. Unbelievable guy and an amazing inspiration. There is a story that goes with this, but we had to eat desert tonight care of one of the tour riders wife. Delicious!
Off to bed now, ready to do it all again tomorrow starting at 5:30am...
