The weekend proved to be a tough yet enjoyable couple of days. It was the maiden voyage for my new machine, the Specialized Venge Pro. The venge is everything I could have hoped it to be. It's fast, light and comfy.Saturday sent me on a trip out to the Bay, Wellington point, Victoria point and Cleveland before heading for home. 175km trip for the morning with a short stop at brother espresso for a banana smoothie. It was a beautiful day for a ride with the sun blazing (I got burnt) and not a single bit of rain in the sky. I got my first flat tyre on the new bike too. Sunday was planned to be about 150kms, heading to the Gold Coast from Southbank. 3 of us made our way to Mt Gravatt and could see the rain in the distance. We made a collective decision to turn around and do a Bay loop instead. We got to Chandler and the rain hit us pretty hard. It didn't last too long and was nice and refreshing. The rest of the trip was a pretty easy pace back to Southbank and from there Paul and I headed for home. We picked the pace up and had some nice fast sections on the road. 105kms for the morning and my legs were definitely letting me know about it. That gave me 280kms for the weekend. Biggest kms I've gone in a while. There will be plenty more before tour. Im on the bus this morning for a rest day. The rain was pretty heavy and too dangerous for riding. Let's hope it clears up by tomorrow or in time for track training tonight.
